How Coleraine BID Delivered a Large-Scale Public Event Through Digital PR
Feb 11, 2025
Big moments don’t arrive with instructions.
They reward preparation.
Over several years with Coleraine Business Improvement District, I led digital communications and public relations. That meant understanding how media works, what editors need, and how to supply content that fits real deadlines.
The Hannah Scott homecoming brought all of that into focus.
Coleraine BID led the outdoor event, with support from Causeway Coast & Glens Council. I handled the digital execution around it. Media distribution, photography, videography, graphics, and live publishing all had to work together without slowing the day down.
On the ground, I captured content as it happened. On stage, I created and managed graphics for the big screen. Online, I coordinated publishing across BID platforms in real time.
We also stitched together welcome home videos from recognisable voices and community figures. Alongside that, we recorded messages from Hannah’s parents, which became some of the most meaningful moments of the day.
Thousands attended, lining the streets of Coleraine. Across BID social media and one publication alone, content generated hundreds of thousands of video views and thousands of engagements.
None of it happened by accident.
Scale didn’t come from shouting louder. It came from knowing what needed done before the crowd arrived.
