Good Work Leaves You Grateful, Not Clinging

Coleraine BID - Geoffrey Moffett

I enjoyed my time working freelance with the BID.

That matters. Too often, decisions like this get framed as disputes or endings. This wasn’t that. The work was meaningful. We did a lot. More than a lot, actually.

Working with Coleraine Business Improvement District allowed me to help shape campaigns, systems, and digital foundations that didn’t exist before. Not just ideas, but infrastructure. Things that still work without me being there.

In mid-2025, following the departure of the Chief Executive, a service level agreement for 2025–2029 was proposed. The then Chair wanted me to go under it. I understood why.

But enjoying work doesn’t mean you extend it indefinitely.

Sometimes enjoying it means recognising that it’s complete.
