Good Ideas Survive by Adapting, Not by Sticking Rigidly to Form

Coleraine BID - Geoffrey Moffett

The idea came from us.

Triovia recommended that Coleraine BID create a local magazine, and we also recommended Gillian Anderson to lead it. The goal was simple. Give the town a proper place to tell its story.

That idea became Our CQ.

But by March 2025, it was clear that something had changed. We reviewed the data. Analytics showed declining engagement from the physical edition. Voucher codes and money-off offers placed inside the magazine weren’t converting in the way they once had.

We didn’t rely on instinct alone. We surveyed locals. The feedback was consistent. People still valued the magazine, but they preferred reading content online where it felt fresher and easier to return to.

The idea wasn’t wrong. The behaviour had shifted. And good ideas evolve when the evidence tells them to.
