Today at a web summit in Lisbon, Portugal, head of the messenger product Stan Chudnovsky announced a new plugin which is part of 'messenger 2.2' that lets visitors to a website engage in live chat with a human or bot without leaving that website. The plugin has been called 'Customer Chat'.
David Marcus, head of messenger said

Out of all the new features that come with 2.2, the one I’m the most excited about is our brand new Customer Chat Plugin that will enable any website to embed messenger on their pages to engage their customers directly without them ever leaving their website. The beauty of this new solution is that as a business you’ll have the ability to continue the conversation with customers in Messenger, which should drive much higher conversion. Our web plugin will also be amazing for customer support as a conversation that starts on your website, can also be continued without losing context inside of Messenger after your customer has closed their web browser or tab."
